The purpose of this stucy is to find out the effect of informational support care on
anxiety reduction in cardiac disease child s mother .
The study design was a non - equivalent control group with a pre- post test .
The subjects were selected among cardiac disease child of KNUH during Dec. 10th, 1996
to Dec. 30th, 1997. Of the total 37 subjects who consented to participated in the
experiment , 18 were assigned to the experiment al group and 19 to control group.
The instrument used for this study made by the researcher to informational support care
with booklet and Spielberger s T rait Anxiety Scale for mother s anxiety level.
The booklet contained structured information of admis sion and cardiac dis ease.
Data were analyzed and tested with X2 - test , Wilcoxon Rank Sums t est , t - test , paired
t - test using SAS.
The result were as follows ;
1. State anxiety level of cardiac disease childs ’ mother was found to be higher in the
experiment al group than in the control group before test . But , it was not significant
statistically .
2. The hypothesis thant the experimental group who received the informational support
care will have lower anxiety level than the control group who did not received the
informationsl support care was not supported(Z=- .96, p=0.3380). But state anxiety level of
the experimental group was lower than before test . It was significant difference
statistically (t =- 2.66, p=0.0166).
3. The level of mothers ’ anxiety according to the mothers ’ and childs ’ general
characteristics was not significantly.
On the basis of this study, I suggest that as follows ;
1. The informational nursing program for mother s of admission child is needed.
2. The vers atile study for Anxiety reduction in mothers’ of Cardiac disease child is needed.
